Behrenstraße 55-57, 10117 Berlin
- The youngest and smallest of Berlin’s opera houses
- Founded in 1947
Do you remember the saying “All good things come in threes”? These wise words may apply to many things, but in the context of today’s episode, it applies to opera houses. As a cultural epicenter of Europe, Berlin can show off with not only one opera house – not two, but indeed three: Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper and Komische Oper. Quite cool, right? And a fun fact for your next round of small talk: Berlin is the only city worldwide with three opera houses. The Komische Oper is the smallest one of those three – but it comes with an exciting and vivid history which we want to tell you about in this week’s episode.
