Fischerinsel, 10179 Berlin
- Originally a fisherman neighborhood of the Slavic town of Cölln
- It was intact after World War II
On the north of the Spreeinsel lies the famous Museum Island. But have you ever tried to stroll down to the south of the island? Well, it might not look like much nowadays, but the Fischerinsel has been through a lot so you probably should give it a break.
It was part of the one of the two original villages that formed Berlin, the town of Cölln. Then it went from super poor and obsolete to become a tourist attraction. It survived World War II, only to be demolished by the GDR.
