If you haven’t heard or been to the Anhalter Hochbunker yet, well, you should. The place was built in 1943 next to the Anhalter Bahnhof in order to quickly be able to house people in case of bombing raids during World War II. The Anhalter Hochbunker was composed of five floors, two underground and three overground.
The place helped keeping many Berliners safe, but its usage above capacity was also responsible for many deaths. Today, you can visit the bunker with a guided tour offered by Berlin Story Bunker.
